Frequently Asked Questions

Review common questions about referrals, authorizations, intake, and scheduling mental health care with Telemynd.

Do Active Duty Service Members need a referral and authorization?

Yes. Active Duty Service Members must receive mental health care at a military hospital or clinic when possible. To receive nonemergency mental health care from a TRICARE-authorized civilian provider such as Telemynd, you need a referral and pre-authorization coordinated through your Primary Care Manager.

How do I request a referral to Telemynd?

Sign in to the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal and send a secure message to your PCM, primary care team, or military treatment facility care team. Ask for a referral and authorization for outpatient mental health services through Telemynd.

Can I contact Telemynd while my authorization is pending?

Yes. You do not need to wait for approval to begin the Telemynd intake process. Call (866) 991-2103 and tell us you are Active Duty and your authorization is pending.

Your appointment can be scheduled after Telemynd receives and verifies the required authorization.

What Telemynd provider information might my care team need?

If your PCM or Referral Management Office asks for Telemynd’s provider information, provide:

Provider: Telemynd
NPI: 1831672989
Authorization fax: (267) 937-3340

How can I confirm that Telemynd received my authorization?

Call Telemynd at (866) 991-2103. Our Care Coordination team can check whether the authorization has been received and reviewed and explain whether anything else is needed.

If Telemynd has not received it, confirm with your PCM or Referral Management Office that the authorization was sent using Telemynd’s NPI, 1831672989, and authorization fax number, (267) 937-3340.

When will my Telemynd appointment be scheduled?

Telemynd can schedule your appointment after the required authorization has been received, reviewed, and verified. Our Care Coordination team will help schedule your appointment based on provider availability and the services included in your authorization.

Do TRICARE spouses, children, or other dependents need authorization?

In most cases, TRICARE dependents do not need a PCM referral or prior authorization for outpatient mental health visits with a network provider in their region. Exceptions can apply based on the service, provider, health plan, or location.

Call Telemynd at (866) 991-2103 or request an appointment online. Our team will verify your eligibility and benefits before scheduling care.

What should I do if I need immediate help?

Telemynd’s coordination line is not an emergency service. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
